a trip to our nation's capitol

for spring break we took a weekend trip to D.C. and had such a blast. we stayed with my cousin Ali and her husband Alex who were the world's best hosts!
we packed a lot into those three days... almost too much. by the end I was crying for my poor feet! a LOT of walking involved. but oh SO worth it!!! here were some highlights:)

Old Town Alexandria
one of my new favorite places. so colorful, happy, and with so much history. loved walking around by the waterfront, hopping on the trolley, and seeing historic sights.

Arlington Cemetery
we were able to see the changing of the guard ceremony at the tomb of the unknown soldier, which was amazing. the magnitude of the cemetery takes your breath away!

we explored the cemetery and found this roman looking amphitheater... are we in D.C. or Rome?

getting the famous "bluebuck" pancakes at the Eastern Market. YUM

paddle boating in tidal basin on OPENING DAY!!! we were loving life!

touring around the mall... monuments, capitol, library of congress, holocaust museum, etc

we the pizza & good stuff
the two BEST places to eat in D.C. (in my opinion)
the toasted marshmallow shake was to die for... i snapped this shot of layton and two second later snatched it right back haha

we love you D.C.! every time we come we learn more and more about you, and discover more of our favorite places. we can't wait to become regulars! thanks for becoming our new home away from home away from home:)
