for a split second

Law school, work, studying, the library, piano lessons, firm receptions, 12 hour days, interviews... these days Layton and I never see each other. And no, the 8 hours we sleep side by side at night don't count. Most days I wake up and he is gone to school, then he will come home and I have gone to teach lessons (leaving dinner with a note in the fridge), then I come home and he is at the library, then we go to bed! Life is crazy crazy crazy, but with a husband like Layton it makes it all worth it. Throughout the day we are constantly making each other laugh via text. We talk in between class and work and leave notes around the house or taped to his book. We make it work. Today, after working at the hospital I got in my car to head to my student's home to teach. As I was passing the law school, I saw a familiar face... there was Layton! Walking home from school. I couldn't stop because there was a car behind me, but we both smiled and waved so giddy at seeing each other for just a split second. As I passed I reached out my hand dramatically.. noooooo!
Its those little split seconds that we live for these days. And trust me, even a mil second with Layton a day makes this busy time worth it.

snow day and v day

We had the funnest weekend as we celebrated Valentines Day, and got to stay home from school in work because of a snow day. Thank you snow! For once, I didn't dread a storm in February, but welcomed it... selfishly wanting Layton all to myself.

And we had a blast! We went on a snowy walk up to the Rotunda and back, (a bit sketchy I might add,) ate yummy food, watched movies, and cuddled all day.

For V Day I woke up to a note taped to my phone that led me on a scavenger hunt leading me to a bouquet of flowers! Little did he know that I had one planned for him as well:) It's a funny tradition we have, that we always do the same thing for each other on Valentines Day by accident!

The first year he took me to a concert and I later took him to a Jazz game. The second year we both hand made sugar cookies for each other. And this year it was scavenger hunts. I hope next year is two beach trips??? Ha a girl can dream.

We went out to dinner and just loved spending time together. I am so so grateful for my eternal valentine. He is the love of my life!
